How Does it Work?
Your cooking experience with the addition of the ELECTRICKIT system offers you more flexibility and efficiency. The independent hobs and top oven allow you to multitask effortlessly, whether you're frying, simmering, or roasting – all while keeping the kitchen cool in the summer. Enjoy vastly improved heat-up times, with the hobs reaching frying temperature in just 10 minutes and the top oven preheating to 200°C in 1 hour and 35 minutes. This precision temperature control makes cooking on your Eco Aga an effortless experience, allowing you to bake with unmatched accuracy.
No longer do you need the mercury readout – our intuitive control panel, conveniently located behind the bottom left door, puts you in complete command. Adjust the hobs from a gentle simmer to a rolling boil, and select the perfect temperature for your top oven with the touch of a button.
For added convenience, you can time your oven to turn on exactly when you need it, whether it's waking up to a warm kitchen, preparing dinner in the evening, or cooking your overnight porridge. By only using energy when necessary, you'll enjoy significant cost savings, as you won't be paying for the oven to be hot when not in use. This not only reduces your energy consumption but also helps manage your Aga oven cost more effectively. Embrace the future of efficient, flexible, and user-friendly cooking on your Eco Aga with this innovative system.
Engineering Information
The ELECTRICKIT is a state-of-the-art cooking system manufactured in the UK by Oilwarm Limited in Devon. By converting the heat source to electric, the energy can be applied precisely where it's needed, eliminating the large cast mass of the combustion chamber and flue ways. One element powers the ovens (2 door), while the hobs are independently controlled by their own thermostats and separate elements. This radical reduction in unwanted mass has vastly improved heat-up times – the oven can reach 200°C from cold in just 1 hour and 35 minutes, and the hobs can be frying within 10 minutes of being switched on.
Temperature Control
The oven temperature is now controlled by a robust system used in commercial ovens and kilns, allowing for pinpoint accuracy. The temperature you set is the temperature you get, with only a few degrees of variation – a significant improvement over the old system, where differences of up to 20% of the set temperature were common due to slow recovery times and thermostat drag. The LED readout displays the top oven temperature, eliminating the need for a mercury gauge. For 4-oven range cookers, an extra element with its own control is added. Additionally, the temperature of the Aga simmering oven is maintained at a steady 120-150°C, perfect for slow cooking and gentle heating.
Electric Supply
The ELECTRICKIT requires 2 x 13 amp sockets with an independent supply from the fuse box. You can choose to use 1 or 2 timers – one for the ovens and a second for the hobs if required, selecting from a wide range of options to suit your preferences.
Running Costs
The running costs of a converted Aga can vary significantly depending on the household's usage patterns. However, based on the usage of a converted 2-oven Aga by 2 working adults over 12 months, with efficient operation (i.e., only running the Aga when required), the average daily kilowatt usage is as follows:
To calculate your running costs, use the following formula:
Your pence per kilowatt × Kilowatts used
The converted Aga was used as follows:
Autumn (3 months)
Timed operation: 06:00 – 09:00 / 16:00 – 21:30
